The Reduction is an email digest of newly published orthopaedic literature.
This page describes exactly what we store and why — it's short, because we
collect very little.
What we collect
What you give us at signup: your email address, optional
name, role, specialty selections and preferences, and (optionally) your
institution's LibKey ID for full-text links.
Delivery signals: whether an email was accepted or
bounced (via our sending provider, Resend), used only to keep the digest
out of spam folders and to pause dead addresses. We do not record whether
you opened it.
What we do with it
Send you the digest you asked for. That's it.
We never sell, share, or rent your information, and we
send nothing except the digest and account emails (confirmation, and
replies if you write to us).
How it's protected
The subscriber list lives in access-controlled storage, is never published,
and its off-site backup is encrypted (AES-256).
Where digest history must be stored (so you never receive a repeat), it is
keyed by a one-way hash — not by your name or email.
Signup uses double opt-in: nobody can subscribe an address they don't control.
Deletion
Unsubscribing stops all email immediately. If you want your record fully
deleted (not just deactivated), reply to any digest or email
digest@getthereduction.com —
your record is removed, and any residual (already-anonymized) delivery history
is purged shortly after.
Cookies & tracking
No tracking of any kind. The website sets no advertising or analytics
cookies. Digest emails contain no tracking pixel and no rewritten links — we
do not know whether you opened an issue or which articles you clicked. The
links go straight to PubMed or your library.
