SUMMARY — THE REDUCTIONA minimally invasive capitate shortening technique with retrograde intermetacarpal screw fixation offers a less invasive option for treating Kienböck's disease with reduced soft-tissue exposure.

Capitate shortening osteotomy is one treatment for Kienböck's disease. We describe a minimally invasive technique using a small transverse dorsal incision and retrograde intermetacarpal screw fixation. The advantages are reduced dorsal soft-tissue exposure and a more central screw placement within the capitate.Level of evidence: IV.
